PupPilotBot

Last updated: September 2026

If you found this page in your web server logs, a PupPilot crawler visited your site. This page explains who we are, what the crawler does, what we keep, and how to make it stop.

Who we are

PupPilot builds a phone and messaging assistant for veterinary clinics — it answers calls and texts for practices that would otherwise miss them. To do that well, we maintain a directory of veterinary clinics, and PupPilotBot re-verifies the public listing details in that directory against each clinic's own website.

How the crawler identifies itself

Every request carries this User-Agent string:

PupPilotBot/1.0 (+https://puppilot.co/bot)

We do not crawl from a fixed set of IP addresses, so please identify the crawler by its User-Agent rather than by IP range.

What it fetches

PupPilotBot fetches a small number of public pages per clinic site — the ones that carry listing information:

  • Contact pages
  • About pages
  • Team and staff pages
  • Hours pages
  • New-client and forms pages
  • Similar public pages that carry listing details

How it behaves

  • At most 8 pages per site.
  • At least 1 second between requests to the same host.
  • It reads and honours robots.txt, including a Crawl-delay directive if you set one.
  • It does not render JavaScript — it reads the HTML your server returns.
  • It follows same-site links only, and never submits forms or logs in.

What we store

We store the text of the pages we fetch, and we use it to verify the listing details of a clinic: phone number, address, opening hours, staff names, and services offered. We do not seek out client or patient data, and we do not want it — if it appears in text we collected, tell us and we will remove it.

Removal on request is unconditional: email us and we will delete the stored text for your site.

How to opt out

Add the following to your robots.txt and PupPilotBot will stop crawling your site:

User-agent: PupPilotBot
Disallow: /

You can also just email us and we will stop — no robots.txt change needed. Use the same address if you would rather we crawl less often, or only certain pages.
